Realistic Garden Modelling

Realistic Garden Modelling

This garden used a range of hand modelling and CNC Mill carving to create a realistic representation of a clients designed garden.

Hand Modelling Using Woodwork

Hand Modelling Using Woodwork

The model was wired with LED lighting to enhance the models aesthetic and realism. These were introduced as garden lights within the gazebo and raised planters.

Potting Bench - Woodwork

Potting Bench - Woodwork

This used cedar wood to create a full size potting bench. The construction only used traditional wood working joints, with no screws used within the structure.

Child Mechanical Toy - Wood

Child Mechanical Toy - Wood

This model involved the creation of a mechanical child's toy in which the scoop and eye section moved when the toy was pushed along. In order to achieve this smooth movement cams and bars were used to create a regular movement when the toy is used.

Conceptual Modelling - Island

Conceptual Modelling - Island

This modelling project involved the exploration of concepts, materials and modelling techniques to create an island.

Section Model - Island

Section Model - Island

This used regular sections across the island to create a gridded section model. This is particularly effective to illustrate significant changes of topography across the site.

Contour Model - Island

Contour Model - Island

This used the layering of corrugated cardboard to form a contour topography model of the island. A good aesthetic was achieved through the alignment of the cardboard flues within each layer.

Wire Skeletion Model

Wire Skeletion Model

A simple wire frame was created of the island to represent its key structural and topographical features.

Fabric Model - Island

Fabric Model - Island

A skin was stretched across the wire frame model using fabric. This highlights the phenomenal effects shadows and the effect of mass and void.

Component Model - Island

Component Model - Island

This model illustrates the use of regular units brought together to create a larger structure. Floral foam was used to create the regular units which provided a rigid geometry to the island.

Above illustrates a range of contrasting presentation models representing both realistic and conceptual designs. The models include site modelling, conceptual model making experimentation and wood work. The modeling technique used to create the ones shown above demonstrate skills in the use of foamboard, grey board, timber, foam, card, wire as well as other fine asthetic materials.

Many site models often take a monochrome apperance to represent the various design features. This provides a clear and minimal visualisation of the design and prevent over complication and mis interpretation of the concept and design.
